Is there anything wrong with our Royal Malaysian Police?

I’m sure everyone out there loves to see those police-catch-bad guy television shows. My favorite would be CSI Miami, David Caruso is simply enthralling!

All right now, let’s not talk too much about that. Talking about the law enforcement agency, do you notice anything funny about our Royal Malaysian Police?

For an example, take a look at that reality TV show shown on TV¾… Whooppss… Sorry folks, typo error. I didn’t mean to call it as ‘TV Tiga Suku’. I really meant TV3. Okay, the reality TV show that I’m referring to is 999. I don’t know about you but I find it a bit stupid to see petty crime busting action being aired and shown to the Malaysian public. Come on now, who wants to see stories on bicycle thefts and raids on PATI (illegal immigrants) on national TV?

Okay, that is one. The second thing that I find a bit funny is the fact that we have not seen or heard of any big time criminal kingpins being brought to justice. Seriously now, how long have you been living under the Malaysian coconut shell? 10, 20, 30 or 60 years? It doesn’t really matter. Please ask yourself, when was the last time you see or hear a big time criminal kingpin being brought to justice by our Royal Malaysian Police?

If we go by what has been written in the local newspapers and aired in the local television news, all we heard so far was petty crimes committed by petty criminals. Yes, the one that the Malaysian Malays (Melayu) would normally call ‘ikan bilis’ or small time criminals. Just to prove a thing or two, all we heard and seen so far are small time drug dealers who were caught with a few kilos of drugs and pimps pushing a few prostitutes on our Malaysian backstreets or in some cheap motels. That’s about it, isn’t it?

If you add those two points highlighted earlier together, I’m sure that you would see where I’m going with this. Yes, my feelings exactly. Those are only small fishes in the big Malaysian criminal world. What about those big time criminal kingpins who distributes drugs not in kilos but in tons, hundreds of tons? What about those pimps with more than thousands of prostitutes in their sick whorehouses? In the end, this would bring up more questions, isn’t it?

Last few days, I read a very interesting article written by Raja Petra Kamarudin posted on his Malaysia Today blog on the 7th of August 2007. The article may shed some light on this subject here today. Go and read it now!

If it is true, then we are all in the deepest shit! What do you think my fellow readers?
