Who says political blogs are not popular?

Well folks!

Something happened to me and my friends here in Ipoh early this morning and maybe it would be best if I share a little bit about the incident with you folks out there.

This morning we met a group of obnoxious local political party members (They have big potty bellies! Having too many corruptions, perhaps) that pompously declared that nobody likes to read local political or socio-political blogs here in Malaysia. They know that I have my very own blog and they even gave me some good verbal whacking. We managed to control our tempers though, if not all hell would have broken loose today!

For the sake of knowing the truth, let me show them (I know that they would read this soon) the actual truth. Based from Alexa’s current top sites in Malaysia list, we have two well known local political blogs in the top 100! The first is of course Malaysia Today (sitting pretty at no. 58) and the other one is HarakahDaily (sitting just as pretty on no. 82)! I was a bit surprised to see HarakahDaily in the current top 100 sites in Malaysia list since the last time I checked they were nowhere in the list! That was a huge jump!

Congratulations HarakahDaily!

Funny though, MalaysiaKini is currently not in the top 100 list. They were listed in the top 100 one time ago. So, what went wrong?

I have the proof right here in this post. Now, who dares to say that our local political blogs are not popular?

One possible reason Malaysiakini is not in the list is due to its classification as a non-NGO (ie. it is regarded as a commercial mass media) and thus will not be considered for this particular pro-NGOs sopo (social-political) listing.

Personally, ranking in any list is not everything, but the actual impact on those who follow these blogs is more crucial and important.
