We now have a new acting Chief Justice to replace the outgoing you-know-who who many believed was forced to leave his post under the pretext of compulsory retirement after his request for an extension has been denied by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the rest of the Malay Rulers.
Congratulation Dato’ Abdul Hamid Mohamad! I must say that I’m absolutely delighted to hear that a new man has been appointed to replace the ‘outgoing’ Chief Justice even though it is only temporary. This would ease some tension off the judiciary after being hit by allegations of judicial-fixing right after the exposure of that sensational Lingam Tape video.
MalaysiaKini reported that the new man temporarily filling the shoes left by his infamous and controversial predecessor received several votes of confidence from some prominent lawyers. Really?
Well folks, I’m not an expert on law and legal matters but I would not buy MalaysiaKini’s story just yet. I would rather wait for the Bar Council to come up with their official opinion on the appointment of Dato’ Abdul Hamid Mohamad as the new acting Chief Justice. It would be great if they can give us some hints (I’m just playing dumb here) on who this Zaki fellow might be. We have been hearing his name a couple of times lately. That name sounds so UMNO-like to many people and I’m really concerned about it.
Madam President Ambiga Sreenevasan! I have faith in our Bar Council; please give us some opinions please.
