Last Sunday, I received a call from a friend saying that he have a few friends that was eager to meet me in person. I said okay but to tell you the truth, I was a bit perplexed by my friend’s insistence to meet on that particular day. Who did he have along with him? Special Branch agents from Bukit Aman (Peace Hill)? Would I be blown to bits like poor Altantuya?
So I went up and met him as promised. It turned out that his friends were just some ordinary Malaysians, just like you and me. They do have something that most of us do not have. They have numerous working experiences in mobile phone retail shops and outlets. They knew that I’m blogging on women and they would like to share something that they knew long time ago with every one of you out there.
To cut their whole story short, they claimed that there is a big conspiracy going on involving some Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean mobile phone sales and service shops. They could not really say just how big this conspiracy is but they do suspected that it might involve even the mobile phone shop owners themselves. Their allegation however is more on the mobile phone shop’s technicians and sales assistants.
According to them, some of those mobile phone technicians and sales assistants would secretly or silently download and copy photos, images, videos or movies from their customer’s mobile or camera phones without their prior permission. If the stolen photos, images, videos or movies are personal and pornographic in nature, those thieves would later upload them on some sick websites thus making them freely accessible in the internet. The public can do whatever they like with them; they can view them online or download them to their computers. Wow! This is pretty darn serious!
They also claimed that some Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean mobile phone shops are even willing to pay certain amount of money to gain possession of such pornographic materials. This is why our well known sick regiment of ‘mat skodengs’ (peeping toms) are doing what they are doing in the first place. There is money, big money involved here!
As I have said earlier, this is just hearsay. I did ask them whether they had any proof of this allegation but they said it would not be easy to prove since many were oblivious to the truth and I was told to trust them instead. Okay then, so be it. They told me to go and check in the internet and see for myself just how big this conspiracy has grown into. They told me to search for ‘3gp’ in Yahoo and Google Groups when I had the time. They said that there is one particular Group in Google called ‘Melayu 3GP’ that is currently very popular among Indonesians, Malaysians and Singaporeans. Indeed there is, I did found the site that they were talking about earlier today.
Let me end this posting with some advice that they have for all women:
- Please do not hand over your mobile or camera phones to third parties such as technicians and sales assistants even if it is only for the task of topping up your talk-time credits. Please do it yourself!
- If your mobile or camera phones are faulty and you are thinking of sending them for repairs, please remove and delete not only photos, images, videos or movies but also your phonebooks and notes. Just remove and delete everything from your mobile or camera phones and that includes their memory cards too!
