AlJazeera yesterday reported that eight people where five of them were Buddhist monks were killed in a brutal crackdown on nationwide anti-government protests in Myanmar.
I am sad that the authorities over in Myanmar have taken such a drastic and senseless measure (reminded me our own Pantai Batu Buruk incident) against those peaceful protesters. I strongly condemn their use of violence against those peaceful protesters! :-(
United Nations is very concerned with this new development and their Secretray-General Ban Ki-moon would send a special envoy to Myanmar and urged the current ruling military government to give him their full cooperation.
I’m really concerned with this too since I do have a few good Burmese friends over there. The last time I heard from them, they told me that they are scared for their lives even though they were not really involved in the anti-government protest. Reports of people being dragged from their homes and taken for interrogations to some undisclosed locations by the authorities really bother them.
To my Burmese friends, I have not received any emails from you guys for quite some time now. Are you guys okay?
