Mahathir defending NEP, racism and his past administration on BBC Hardtalk

The following video is priceless!

It is one of those rare videos that captured Mahathir having a tough time to explain himself and his past administration to the whole wide world. BBC Hardtalks’s Stephen Sackur really cornered Mahathir, giving him some hard questions and facts that Mahathir had problems in addressing them.

No doubt that the non-Malays in Malaysia would love this one alright! :-)

Jundab Al-'Alaqi, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: He who wants to publicize (his deeds), Allah will publicize (his humility), and he who makes a hypocritical display (of his deeds), Allah will make a display of him (his real intention).
Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 5302

Dr M should consider writing a sequel to his book "The Malay Dilemna" called "The Mahathir Dilemna" for running down the country he ruled for 22 years. What shameful behavior!!! Which US President or rulers of other countries behave like this? NONE! But he in his quick wit and mind will answer "Yes I know of at least one, ME" He has done enough damage to Malaysia, its image and economy during Asian Crisis and now he wants to bring it to ruin if the administration there is not run the way he wants. He seems successful in hoodwinking the Malays but not the Western World for sure. Many wants to see him punished for all his abuses of power. He is an absolute disgrace to the country!

Mahatir ran a government of EXCLUSION, excluding Chinese, Indians and those Malays who are not UMNO members and who have no political connection. If Malaysia had not discovered oil on the Trengganu coast, Malaysia will today be bankrupt. We cannot totally blame Mahatir for the distortion of the political landscape because it was the greed of the UMNO members who corrupted the system.

The system of exclusion that underpinned the Mahatir government had deprived the best talents from working and contributing to Malaysia’s wealth creation. The weakness in the Malays trying to progress their system was that they were unprincipled and short sighted in implementing their objectives and more often, those who are connected did not have the knowledge nor the talent to achieve results and consequently vast amount of capital were fritted away on useless projects that only lost capital, example is the ongoing SPACE PROGRAMME that lost Malaysia no less than Rm.100 million; what was that for ?

Mahatir made mention that there were injustices that were pepetrated by the British ( I read his book and I believe he is still touting that injustices were perpetrated because contracts were given to Chinese. This is disingenuous because contracts are now given out to Malays who just got no ideaa how to go about it and they just SUB-CONTRACT OUT to NON Malays) what is the difference, only now tha Malays do not need to work or risk their capital and profit by deducting a % of the contract. This is still going on and it has nothing to do with the british.

Mahatir says that all the races are treated equally, do you believe him ? even today ?
