Blast from the past! JOM + HEBOH = HARAM?

My fellow readers… As of today, I would have a new juicy addition to this blog. It would be a weekly segment published on every Sunday (InsyAllah), it is something like my Friday Special weekly segments but the topics would be somewhat different.

As we all know, the Malaysian Malays (Melayu) in general are a forgetful lot. We would talk and discuss about current issues today and by tomorrow, everyone would lose track and forget all about them. It is our pathetic weakness that has been manipulated by the powers that be time after time. The Malaysian Malays practically gave them the opportunity to quietly sweep every mess under their big carpet. :-(

Not anymore! My new weekly segments called ‘Blast from the past!’ would tackle this problem first hand. The Malaysian Malays need to be reminded of past issues and concerns that still very much haunt us today. They have remained unresolved but yet many Malaysian Malays are oblivious to their ongoing existence. Are we all that blind?

My first ever segment would bring back the forgotten issue with regards to that highly popular Jom Heboh carnival brought to you by TV3. Some of us called them TV¾ (TV Tiga Suku). It doesn’t really matter; they are one and the same. Back in 2004, the Malaysian National Fatwa Council (Majlis Mufti-Mufti Malaysia) have decreed that TV3’s Sure Heboh (now known as Jom Heboh) carnival as ‘haram’ or going against the teachings of Islam.

Now, I’m not going to talk much about this since the matter has been discussed by many people in all walks of life. Why don’t we have a look and see what they have to say about this subject. I would leave you with a little carnival of my own, a blog carnival to be exact. Feel free to visit all the links that I have provided down below to see what this whole subject is all about.
