Dato’ Badruddin Amiruddin had pissed off a lot of people (MalaysiaKini has more on this) lately. You folks should know what I’m talking about. It got something to do with that ‘wheelchair’ statement he made against our Member of Parliament, Karpal Singh.
I honestly think that many of you folks simply blow it out of proportion.
Why?
Surely you folks have other better things to do.
Is the habit of sensationalizing everything under the sun has become a regular hobby for you Malaysians?
Please get a life, Malaysians.
I’m not here to defend his action but I’m sure that Badruddin Amiruddin did not mean to say that all OKUs (disabled or gifted community) were punished by God. His statement if we look at it carefully was meant for Karpal Singh alone and we should stay out of it. We should consider it as an unfortunate personal attack against Karpal Singh, nothing more than that.
Let’s not pretend that Barisan Nasional is the only people in the world who are impulsive and insensitive to the feelings of others. Hey, DAP was just as guilty as Barisan Nasional in the past.
Have you all forgotten about that legendary ‘over my dead body’ statement made by you-know-who in the 1990 general election?
Do you know how many years it took for you-know-who to apologize for making such arrogant statement?
9 bloody years!
Yeah… Tun Dr. Mahathir did say one time ago that the Malays are a forgetful lot. Mahathir’s opinion is not entirely correct though. The truth is that every Malaysians are a forgetful lot. :-)
By the way, do you know how hard it is to be at the top?
I’m not a fan of Barisan Nasional but I do understand that life is tough for them. Every step they make, every thing they do and every word they say would be scrutinized by people like us. Life is a living hell for them.
If DAP is in charge of the government today instead of Barisan Nasional, do you really think that DAP can present themselves better than Barisan Nasional?
Please ponder upon that question for today, folks.
So, give Barisan Nasional a little break especially on this particular issue that should not have been sensationalized in the first place. Let us concentrate on more important issues such as the Lingam Tape saga and the upcoming general election.
Let’s move on!
Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The strong man is not the one who wrestles well but the strong man is the one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage.
Hadith number in Sahih Muslim [Arabic only]: 4723
It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed:
He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour with kindness and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest.Hadith number in Sahih Muslim: Book 1, Number 0075

Hi Saidul,
I beg to differ, Making a statement about one person in a wheelchair being punished by God is the same as saying those disabled are disabled because they are being punished by God. For how would one knows the working of the mind of the Almighty? How can that rude MP make an insulting statement like this? What if someone says one Muslim is being punished by the Almighty (I think people like us cannot use the term you Muslim use, am I correct?) because he is poor? And for some reason or another, many Muslims all over the world are poor. What if I say one UMNO politician is rich becaused he is blessed by the Almighty?
Tell me what is your reaction to statements like these. Please comment and not keep quite.

Please folks, take good care of our one and only Spaceship Earth which have no lifeboat. It may not affect us severely now, but it has every chance of severely affecting our future generations. Then they will have lots to be "thankful to us)
Hi there Peter…
I still think you folks are overreacting.
I tried to make you folks see the bigger picture but if you folks still think that the MP had offended our whole OKU (gifted or disabled) community then there is only one thing left for him to do.
He should come out and explain himself to the Malaysian public. He should also apologize for causing much misunderstanding among Malaysians.

In our Noble Quran, there are Surahs and Verses that explicitly described God’s many punishments towards mankind. Punishments can happen here in this temporary world and it will also happen in the Day of Judgment. It can even happen while we are lying motionless in our graves!
One thing that you have to understand is that Islam is not about pursuing wealth and chasing rainbows. We are taught to be moderate in our daily doings. Islam however does encourage Muslims to go into business but Islam forbids Muslims from being greedy and inconsiderate in their business affairs. Committing usury in trade is absolutely forbidden for us Muslims.
By the way, do you know that we have one special race in the world today that arrogantly says that they can slap other races with usury but not to their very own special kind. Terrible, isn’t it?
The fact that majority of our Muslims today are poor is due to our very own undoing. In Malaysia for an example, Malay Muslims are more comfortable with that suicidal ‘makan gaji’ philosophy thinking that such way of earning a living is secure and steady. We all know the truth though. :-)
The Malay Muslims must change their mentality first if they want Allah swt to Bless them with wealth and prosperity. This is explicitly described in Surah Ar-Ra’d Verse 11:
For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession. Before and behind him: they guard him by command of Allah. Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves (with their own souls). But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find, besides Him, any to protect.
Noble Quran [13:11]
We should not judge people through their worldly achievements. Having big expensive cars and luxurious bungalows doesn’t mean that they are good and better than anybody else. The following Verse from our Noble Quran should make this pretty clear.
O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full Knowledge and is well-acquainted (with all things).
Noble Quran Al-Hujurat [49:13]
The magic word here is ‘the most righteous’ and not ‘the richest’. :-)
Hi Saidul,
We are not talking about wealth here. Many Malay/Muslim make sweeping statements that Chinese are greedy for money. I am a Chinese, and just the other day, I was talking to my son that his father had the brains, the talent and the opportunities, but did not have the ambition. I resent those statements, just like I recent like I recent Raja Petra who in one of his post castigated the Chinese for putting the Barisan into power because UMNO frightened the Chinese with May 13. I was more influenced by PAS insistence on turning Malaysia into an Islamic state (here I think we will never see eye to eye as in one of your articles, you were praising our Creator that Muslim will take over the world one day (or something like that).
In 2004, I was conned by Abdullah Badawi (I think just like you) by his election promises and by the disgust at the situation under the dictatorial Dr. M and was looking for a greatly needed change.
Looks like you condone the statement by that insensitive Badaruddin (hope I got his name correct correct correct) making a very unfair statement about Karpal Singh.
Let us see what you have to say in response. Still saying we are refusing to see the "big picture". For what sin you would say Karpal Singh is being punished by our creator?

Hi there Peter..
"(here I think we will never see eye to eye as in one of your articles, you were praising our Creator that Muslim will take over the world one day (or something like that)."
Peter, the proper word would be 'Muslims will provide salvation for the world through Imam Mahdi and Prophet Isa (as@pbuh)'. Taking over the world and showing everybody who-is-boss in not our agenda. You sounded like we Muslims are ready to wage war on anybody. :-)

For crying out loud, when did I say that I condone Badruddin's remarks made against Karpal Singh?
When I said that some of you folks are overreacting that doesn't mean I'm condoning Badruddin's actions.
To make this clear once and for all, I did not condone his actions. What I find weird is that some of you folks took it too personally since it was only a personal attack made against Karpal.
SubhanAllah..
Peter..
We are just human beings. Who are we to say that someone has been punished by God?
By the way Peter.. In Islam, every divine punishments have their blessings in disguise (not related with Karpal's case). Muslims were told to be strong and accept fate no matter how bad it might be for there would be something better waiting for us in later part of our lives.
God Works in mysterious ways, Peter. As a Muslim, I would say that only Allah swt Knows best.
Hi Saidul,
I wished I had taken the trouble to save the URL of that site which mentioned some Imam in Denmark opening saying that when the Muslim population becomes big enough, they will make Denmark an Islamic state.
Anyway, I found this: Establish Islamic state
"At its conference in north London on Saturday, the leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain, Jalaluddin Patel, said that the call for the establishment of a global Islamic state "holds currency on the streets of Cairo, on the streets of Karachi... and on the streets of Tripoli. And indeed in almost every city in the Muslim world."
