Malaysian Malay women, what is your stand on pornography?

Do you want to know why I’m asking this today?

All right, have anyone noticed something really funny about our Malaysian Malay women’s (wanita Melayu) community? When was the last time you saw or heard them complaining or protesting about pornography?

Probably never, right? As for me, I knew of two particular events where a few Malaysian Malay women and some from other Malaysian ethnic groups got together and took their protests to our Malaysian streets in the late 90s. Both were initiated by political parties and the best thing is that all of them are Malaysian opposition parties!

Both events happened years ago. What I find odd is that nobody seems to be concern about pornography nowadays. Do they realize that pornography especially online pornography has reached epidemic proportions here in Malaysia today? Are we all blind or something?

I just could not fathom the level of ignorance that our Malaysian Malay women have on this matter. Do you ladies realize that all of the victims of Malaysian pornography are your own kind? Just take a look at any of those sick Malaysian porn websites and tell me what you see there. They are your own kind all right, stupid (pardon me for saying that) but naive women. Most of them are teenagers and who knows, some of them might even be your children!

Just take a look at the video provided down below taken on the 21st of May 2006. More than 100,000 strong Indonesian protesters rallied and took their anti-pornography protests to the streets of Jakarta on that day! We should be ashamed of ourselves. They are much stronger than the Malaysian Malays here. :-(

Now, I’m not saying that every Malaysian Malay women should go out on the streets today and shout protests like those Indonesians. That’s not what I meant. But I do hope that you ladies would be more concerned about this matter. If you are not doing anything about this today, it is our children and our future generations that would greatly suffer! All because of our silly ignorance! :-(

Come on Malaysian Malay women! Raise this issue to the authorities; push them until they come out with something solid (such as Anti-Pornography Bill) to protect your own kind. If you all get together in numbers, your voices can make a huge difference!
