The bad news as you can see from the above news clip is that this so called anti-smoking vaccine is not yet available in the market. It is still in its trial run and you have to wait for a little while longer if you want to give it a try.
Who developed this anti-smoking vaccine?
I did a little digging and found that this so called anti-smoking vaccine is called Niccine, developed over a period of 10 years at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. The research team is led by Professor Torgny Svensson who founded Independent Pharmaceutica.
How does it work?
Apparently Niccine helps our immune system generate antibodies that fight against nicotine. Niccine vaccination creates antibodies that latch on nicotine and prevents it from stimulating brain nerves, thus stopping nicotine from giving that all too familiar addictive kicks to smokers.
