As a Muslim, I found it funny to see that our Non-Muslims think Islam is only about fasting, praying and paying alms. Sure, those are three of our five main pillars of Islam but let me get this clear to all Non-Muslims out there. Islam is more than that. Islam is Ad-Deen, a ‘Way of Life’. Islam covers everything from finance, economy, judiciary, trade and plenty more. What is more important for Muslims is that we are required to uphold and glorify Islam in its entirety and this is something that our Non-Muslims must take note as well.
Allowing Muslims to pray, fast, pay alms and continue with their simple ways doesn’t mean that we are living in an Islamic State. Non-Muslim and Muslim leaders who allow Muslims to continue praying, fasting, paying alms and continue living their simple ways don’t mean that they are Islam-friendly. Non-Muslim and Muslim leaders who allow Muslims to continue praying, fasting, paying alms and continue living their simple ways don’t mean that they are not Anti-Islamists.
Any effort to curb and stop Islam from being practiced in its entirety is Anti-Islamic and those who got in the way of Islam are Anti-Islamists. No matter how you people tried to redefine the definitions, the truth remains the same.
Muslims should wise up and see the bigger picture. No doubt our Non-Muslims will label us as Islamic radicals and extremists for thinking big, even though it is for the sake of glorifying Islam. I guess this is why PAS is adopting a very cautious approach in the run-up to the 2008 Malaysian election held recently. I have faith in PAS, the party is led by smart and intelligent Muslims and I have confidence that they are able to glorify Islam and earn the faith and confidence of our Non-Muslims at the same time. Yes, this is no easy process and it will take years, probably hundreds of years! InsyAllah, Islam will be there sooner or later.
Last but not least, perhaps Muslims and Malays out there should go and read this interesting article written by Dr. M. Amir Ali. It is a very good article, clearly highlighting the challenges that Muslims have to face anywhere in the world and that includes Malaysia.
Yes, it is not easy to be a Muslim especially in a multi-racial nation like Malaysia. It is a constant struggle but InsyAllah… PAS will strive to make everybody see that Islam is beautiful and fair for everybody. Muslims and Malays should rally behind PAS; they are our only hope of religious revival and Islamic survival here in Malaysia.
